To mark the milestone, the brand will host \u2018TWENTY\u2019 an unprecedented exhibition in Milan to coincide with Salone. Visitors will be invited to explore a thoughtfully curated selection of designs: some inspired by Tom Dixon\u2019s most recognised collections such as MIRROR BALL, MELT and FAT, some upgraded and some in embryonic experiment-mode, providing a reflective yet future-thinking overview of Tom\u2019s prolific portfolio and journey to becoming one of Britain\u2019s most celebrated designers.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Tom says: <em>\u2018You will find us tucked away in a historic palazzo in the centre of Milan where the British auction institution Sotheby\u2019s has its Italian headquarters. There could not have been a better platform to show TWENTY objects that explain some of the history, some of the processes of manufacture but also some of the new developments that describe the future of the brand. All of this coincides with Sotheby\u2019s first Italian design sale, where the central position of Milan as the global capital for creativity is reaffirmed.\u2019<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2125 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/trj.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/3891748b-the-jungle-space-at-the-manzoni.jpg\" alt=\"The Manzoni \" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trj.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/3891748b-the-jungle-space-at-the-manzoni.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/trj.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/3891748b-the-jungle-space-at-the-manzoni-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trj.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/3891748b-the-jungle-space-at-the-manzoni-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>The Manzoni, Milan<\/h6>\n<p>Highlights at TWENTY will include a gigantic MELT Dichroic chandelier, a BIRD chair made of eelgrass from Denmark, a latex S-chair and giant mycelium sculptures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MELT Dichroic Chandelier: <\/strong>Tom says, <em>\u2018We\u2019ve all seen dichroic effects \u2013 maybe on cheap novelty sunglasses in Camden Market or on the surface of early roman glass in the British Museum, but I know that it\u2019s a finish that has always fascinated me. The emergence of Modern Dichroic thin-film filters, which split white light into its component colours is the work of the engine of extreme innovation, NASA. So, when we looked at updating MELT \u2013 our most successful light, rather than offering a new shape, a new size, or a new colour, we decided to instead filter the light with a dichroic filter. The effect of the coated component is to channel the light of our powerful LED driver into constituent parts of the spectrum, giving the already crazed internal reflection an additional chromatic boost and an unexpected space-age aesthetic to this otherworldly lamp.<\/em><strong>\u2019 <\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2118\" src=\"https:\/\/trj.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/4a6ddc05-td_tom-dixon_salone-2022_melt_land_a_.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trj.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/4a6ddc05-td_tom-dixon_salone-2022_melt_land_a_.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/trj.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/4a6ddc05-td_tom-dixon_salone-2022_melt_land_a_-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trj.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/4a6ddc05-td_tom-dixon_salone-2022_melt_land_a_-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>MIRROR BALL Chandelier: <\/strong><em>\u2018We have been challenging ourselves and our factories to reduce our impact on the environment, so this monumental vertical chandelier will be the first to display one of our oldest designs in a 100% recycled polycarbonate. Mycelium, also known as mushrooms, are a very fashionable material that everybody is looking into it at the moment. Our partners, Magic Mushroom, are growing very quickly as a company and are making more and more of this packaging made from mushrooms \u2013 which is very important to replace polystyrene in packaging. However, we wanted to demonstrate it in more permanent use and have created these \u2018Scent Columns\u2019.
